Working with Children
I am deeply committed to supporting children and the families who love and care for them. My work focuses on creating safe, affirming spaces where children feel understood, accepted, and supported to grow in ways that honour who they are.
I support children to build emotional awareness, confidence, and resilience using gentle, child led approaches that respect each child’s unique nervous system and way of experiencing the world. Alongside this, I work closely with parents and carers, offering practical tools, reassurance, and emotional support to help families navigate challenges together with greater understanding and connection.

Why I Love Working With Children
Children experience the world in wonderfully diverse ways. Neurodivergent children in particular often have rich inner worlds, strong imaginations, and deeply felt emotions. I love working with children because they communicate through play, creativity, movement, and story, not just words. When given the right environment, children can explore their feelings safely and in ways that feel natural to them.
Rather than trying to change who a child is, my work focuses on helping them understand their emotions, feel safer in their bodies, and develop tools that support regulation, confidence, and self expression. Therapy becomes a collaborative space where big feelings are welcomed and curiosity replaces fear or shame.
Techniques Adapted for Neurodivergent Children
Every child is unique, and no single approach works for everyone. I adapt all techniques to suit each child’s nervous system, communication style, sensory needs, and pace. Sessions are always flexible, child led, and respectful.
Hypnotherapy
Children often naturally access imagination, imagery, and story. Hypnotherapy can be adapted in gentle, playful ways to support emotional regulation, reduce anxiety, build confidence, and create a sense of safety. For neurodivergent children, this work is always adjusted to feel grounding and empowering rather than overwhelming.
EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques
EFT is a gentle and non invasive tool that supports emotional regulation and nervous system calming. For children, tapping can be adapted using simple language, visuals, movement, or rhythm. This can help with anxiety, overwhelm, emotional intensity, and stress in a way that feels accessible and reassuring.
Creative and expressive approaches
Many neurodivergent children communicate best without words. Creative activities such as drawing, colouring, storytelling, and imaginative play allow children to express thoughts and emotions in ways that feel safe and natural. These approaches are especially supportive for children who are non verbal or who find verbal communication difficult.
Supporting Emotional Regulation and Resilience
My aim is not to teach children to mask or suppress their feelings, but to support them in understanding their emotions and learning what helps them feel more settled and safe. Resilience for neurodivergent children is about self trust, emotional awareness, and having supportive tools, not about pushing through discomfort.
By exploring regulation strategies together, children learn that their feelings make sense and that they have choices in how they respond to them. This builds confidence, self esteem, and a stronger sense of emotional safety over time.
Supporting Parents and Carers
Parents and carers are central to a child’s wellbeing. I work collaboratively with families to ensure support extends beyond the therapy room. As a parent of a neurodivergent child myself, I understand the importance of feeling heard, supported, and not judged.
Parent and carer sessions focus on understanding your child’s nervous system, supporting regulation at home, and developing strategies that work within real family life. My approach respects the deep knowledge parents and carers already have about their child.
A Collaborative and Affirming Approach
Therapy is a partnership. I work alongside children and their families to explore what support looks like for them. Whether a child is experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, shutdowns, or difficulty expressing feelings, we move at their pace and prioritise safety, trust, and connection.
Why Work With Me
I bring both professional training and lived experience to my work with children and families. My approach is neurodiversity affirming, child led, and grounded in compassion and understanding. I support children as they are, while helping families build tools that nurture emotional wellbeing and connection.
